Vishnu God is the preserver of life among the trinity of Gods and is considered to be peace loving. On one of the backhands he holds the milky white conch shell or ‘sankha’ that spreads the primordial sound of Om, and on the other a discuss or ‘chakra’ - a reminder of the cycle of time - which is also a lethal weapon that he uses against monsters and cruel. Sheshanag is generally depicted with a massive form that floats coiled in space to form the bed on which Vishnu lies. Sometimes he is shown as five-headed or seven-headed.
पुराणों में बताया गया है कि श्री हरि माता लक्ष्मी के साथ क्षीरसागर में विराजमान हैं। इनकी शैय्या शेषनाग है जिसके फन पर यह संसार टिका है। लक्ष्मी जी और विष्णु जी को हिन्दू पुराणों में विशेष महत्व दिया गया है। हर अवतार में लक्ष्मी जी विष्णु जी के साथ अवश्य धरतीलोक पर आती हैं। पुराणों में त्रिमूर्ति विष्णु को विश्व का पालनहार कहा गया है। वह अपने नीचे वाले बाएं हाथ में पद्म (कमल) , अपने नीचे वाले दाहिने हाथ में गदा (कौमोदकी) ,ऊपर वाले बाएं हाथ में शंख (पांच्यजन्य), और अपने ऊपर वाले दाहिने हाथ में चक्र(सुदर्शन) धारण करते हैं।
